Training National Teachers

Nicolas Illa has worked for over 20 years training people to read. He has also taught basic health care. His country of Burkina Faso, has one of the lowest education and literacy rates in the country. WOW helped him with some expenses to come to the USA for a year of advanced education, but he borrowed thousands of dollars for his tuition which he still needs to repay. He returns in May 2013 and WOW has purchased courses in French for him to take back, which he will then translate to African dialects.

in June 2011 WOW went over to South Sudan to train grade school teachers, who were educated in Arabic to teach Arabic curriculum, and now have to teach English curriculum. Here, you see a WOW teaching English phonics.
